Thoughts on Hormones

I have been thinking, why is it that the girls get taught and warned that boys are hormonal and not to take what they say or do serious because they get aroused easy and there hormones take over but the boys do not get taught the same thing about girls? Girls have just as many hormones as boys. Girls get turned on just as easily and we make noises and react to stimulus just as much as boys. It seems to me that on one hand society has made girls the weaker sex supposedly all fragile and helpless and on the other hand has put all responsibility on us. If girls show any kind of hormonal response we are interested in sex, a relationship, something more than just having a good time at the moment, however it is normal and even expected that boys can and will get all hot and bothered by just about any girl who walks by because he has hormones. Excuse me, we are allowed to be hormonal, PMS, we are allowed to have anything that is not perfect sweet temperament blamed on PMS or "that time of the Month". It seems to me that if we would stop and take a look at what we expect from each other that maybe there would be less misunderstandings. If a girl goes up to a guy and runs her hands up and down his arms and talks low in his ear chances are it is going to turn his brain to mush as the blood flows south. Why should it not do the same thing to a girl? Just because we do not have our sex organs on the outside does not mean that the blood flow does not go to them. Trust me hormones take over thinking no matter which sex you are. So give everyone a break and how about if you are female or male you take responsibility for your own actions and talk and always ask if what you are doing is okay and pull back enough for the fog to clear, you know the fog I am talking about, and get a coherent answer about whether it is safe/consensual to go forward even if it is only from stroking a wrist to a kiss. A clear yes is always the best, besides doesn't every sane person want to know they are wanted?

Level 1 - Working

We are working through the first level steps. We started with Zen and once I figured that out that I was the one jumping steps we progressed much faster. After 4 days we are currently on
Zen Step 4
Target Step 3
Sit step 3
Down Step 3 - This one is wierd - I mean turn around, stand on couch, etc.?

Homework - 1. The obvious is that she will pass all of her public access test
2. pass her CGC
3. learn to bring me my meds and water when I am supposed to take them.
4. Have her learn all of her Water Dog rescue skills
5. teach her drafting

New Training Program - Training Levels Steps to Success

I found a new program to help with training Harlequin that was developed by a lady who has a SD and all service dog schools use according to "Anything Pawsable" article Top-10-Best-Service-Dog-Training-Resources at:
http://www.anythingpawsable.com/top-10-best-service-dog-training-resources/
It breaks down training into small parts that build on each other and as you build skills lets you easily combine them into more complex strings naturally and intuitively so that when you get to teaching  the SD skills you are already comfortable stringing skills together into behaviors.

So far Harlequin is doing really well even though we are starting at level one.

Harlequin Hunting at 13 weeks

Going on a Lion hunt
I'm not scared

Um, Mom, where did you go?

Oh, there you are
Um, I just wanted to make sure YOU were okay.
I am just going to lay over here and chew on a stick.

What do you mean that is how I ended up at the vet last time?
